Developing Talent for the Future - Creating an Engaged Workforce 3

Critical to creating an engaged workforce are managers who are actively involved in developing their employees’ talents. Employee engagement depends in large part on the degree to which employees feel they are improving their skills and preparing for future assignments. Managers must show interest, provide resources, and offer intense coaching to help employees define and reach their professional development goals. This program provides managers the advanced coaching skills and best practices to nurture future talent. The ideas and concepts in this program go beyond solving performance problems. Managers will focus on how best to help employees achieve peak performance by developing abilities and career interests. 

This program is the third of four modules in the Creating an Engaged Workforce Certificate Series.

What You Will Learn:

  • Understand the importance of and skills for developmental coaching. 
  • Demonstrate the coaching skills of defining developmental needs, preparing developmental plans, and conducting developmental coaching sessions. 
  • Learn strategies for overcoming coaching barriers. 
  • Prepare a coaching plan for two direct reports.

Prerequisites:
Participants would have had a fundamental leadership course as a prerequisite for this program.

 Experienced managers and supervisors who seek to develop advanced leadership skill sets, to enhance personal and organizational effectiveness, and to prepare for higher level leadership responsibilities. Participants should have had a fundamental leadership course as a prerequisite for this program, such as MRA’s Principles of Management Series or Human Resource Professional Series.
