Creating an Engaged Workforce Certificate Series - IA/Western IL

Research shows a strong link between highly engaged employees and organizational performance metrics such as customer satisfaction, revenue growth, individual productivity, retention, and profit margins. Engagement is defined as, “the degree to which employees are committed to their work and the organization and offer discretionary effort to achieve organizational objectives.” Engaged employees seek out challenges, proactively provide creative solutions, go the extra mile, and are willing provide assistance to team members.

Managers strongly influence employee engagement. This certificate series provides managers with advanced leadership skills and best practices that result in higher levels of employee engagement. Managers learn to think more strategically, to modify their leadership style to have greater impact, to assess current employee engagement, and to develop plans that lead to higher levels of engagement and productivity. The series concludes with a capstone learning exercise in which managers implement an action plan for improving engagement within their work area and report the results to management.

The Creating An Engaged Workforce Series helps managers bridge the core skills taught in Principles of Management to more advanced leadership skills required for experienced and higher level managers. The program incorporates a variety of adult learning principles including action learning, case studies, role plays, and applied readings.

It is highly recommended that all four programs be taken in the order below beginning with Management Drivers of Engagement.
