describe the main concepts of TCP/IP networking, recognize IP addresses and network masks, and describe the various TCP/IP protocols available.
demonstrate how to use simple commands for testing and investigating the network, describe how to conduct a Telnet session with a remote host and the use of alternative remote login utilities, recognize how to use FTP to transfer files, and do other tasks.
describe the principles underlying IP subnets and explain how to perform IP subnetting.
describe the Linux files used for configuring TCP/IP.
configure network interfaces using the ifconfig program.
view or configure the routing table.
monitor and troubleshoot a TCP/IP network using Linux tools.
set up PPP for use on a Linux system and use the pppd daemon.
use PPP to initiate, terminate, and troubleshoot PPP connections.
