Strategic management can be defined as the decisions and actions that result in the formulation and implementation of plans designed to achieve an enterprise's objectives. Strategic management is future-oriented and long-term-focused. The planning phase includes defining company mission, performing internal analysis and evaluating the external environment. During the implementation phase, managers select an appropriate strategy based on the information gathered in the planning phase and translate the strategy into organizational actions. This series covers strategy selection for organizations ranging from single-product companies to multi-business enterprises. The courses also introduce how to implement strategy at functional and organizational levels, and how to evaluate the effectiveness of a strategy.
