Summary:

There is more to good time management than making lists and avoiding interruptions. These are important, but good time management is really about altering the way that you work in order to be more effective. Effectiveness isn't about doing more of something it is to do with doing the right thing at the right time. So good time management isn't just about squeezing another task into a crowded day, it is about developing techniques for handling the tasks that need to be done which involves considering when and how to do them and in what order. Many books have been written on time management and a lot of them suggest that all your time management problems will magically disappear if only you will apply this or that technique. Techniques are important, as this series will demonstrate, but attitudes - your own and that of other people- also have to change if you are be a more effective "time manager". There are many ways in which you can put time to better use. Different techniques will work best for different people, so it is important to understand your own relationship with time management. Do you find it easy to start new tasks, but hard to finish them? Are you ready to handle the difficult problems first thing in the morning or do the more entrenched difficulties have to be left to the afternoon? This series will give you the opportunity to investigate how your currently manage time and what methods you could use to improve the situation. It will encourage you to take a flexible and pragmatic approach that will allow you to really alter the way that you work.
